Analysts / Data Managers – Oil Markets

PIRA is looking for analysts (junior and senior level) to keep abreast of worldwide oil markets (including those for natural gas liquids) by gathering, examining and interpreting information on demand, supply and infrastructure developments and then precisely feed this information into databases, reports, and client presentations — as well as make written commentary — that will communicate PIRA’s views.

 Responsibilities may include:

  • Research and gather information on worldwide demand, supply and infrastructure, as well as chemical markets
  • Assess historical trends using statistical analysis
  • Identify and assess new NGL and chemical plant projects
  • Maintain expansive and complex databases
  • Build and execute models and formulas to update forecasts
  • Assist in generating reports and presentations
  • Handle client queries

Requirements

  • College graduate, preferably in a technical field (sciences, engineering), finance or economics. Post-graduate degree a plus.3-plus years of business experience, ideally in energy
  • Computer fluent: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and experienced in using a statistical package. Some light computer programming experience and some familiarity of knowledge of linear programming are pluses
  • Ability to write exceptionally well, and to speak clearly and convincingly
  • Strong ability to work with large amounts of numerical data, formulas, and mathematical models
  • Self-motivated to perform in a fast-moving, extremely detail- and task-oriented environment

Energy Research Sales Executives

PIRA is expanding its Sales Team and will open Representative Offices in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions. We are looking for energetic and self-motivated individuals based in key cities to sell the firm's research retainer subscription services, data, multi-client studies, and project consulting services. Tasked with selling high-end intellectual and state-of-the-art email- and Web-based solutions utilizing a consultative approach to clients and prospects, the candidate will be responsible for identifying leads, generating new sales, and developing business in a professional and expeditious manner.  The position entails working independently (but with full home office support) to  build strong client relationships that translate account needs into business opportunities, as well as ensuring client retention via responsive and proactive account management support.

The Candidate

Ideal candidates have a minimum of 5 years of selling intellectual services to major energy and/or financial entities and many of the qualities noted below:

  • Self-motivated; ability to work with a high degree of autonomy in a startup environment
  • An organized true self-starter, with ability and willingness to forge new relationships
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue goals
  • Possess general knowledge of energy-trading and -producing industries
  • Be comfortable making cold calls, generating interest, qualifying prospects, building prospect pipelines
  • Fluent in English with regional languages (e.g. Mandarin or Arabic) a plus
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills
  • Possess the requisite sales characteristics of tenacity, drive, commercial awareness, persuasiveness, and ability to close deals at all levels
  • Strong business acumen; be comfortable working with very senior customers
  • Hold a high level of integrity, maturity and ethical standards
  • Capable of collaborating effectively with prospects and internal analysts, economists, and product managers
  • Highly organized and responsive to internal and external requests.

We offer a base salary + quarterly bonuses for achieving sales targets
