PIRA Online
PIRA’s Internet-based information service gives EES clients exclusive, timely and convenient access to PIRA’s analysis and price forecasts for European electricity markets. PIRA Online is the easiest way for clients to take advantage of multiple-user, multi-site licenses. Some of the reports and data available online include:

  • Macroeconomic Survey — PIRA’s "Macro Europe" analysis of trends impacting the European electricity markets. Key data provided include: industrial production, GDP growth, currency movements, retail sales, car registrations, unemployment, and leading business indicators (German IFO, French Insee).

  • Wind Forecasts in Germany — Hourly wind forecasts for the day ahead and selected hours for 5 days forward. Wind forecasts are updated several times per day, on the basis of newly available wind condition forecasts.

  • NuclearWatch — Detailed data from official sources on the status of nuclear power on a plant-byplant basis. Clients receive data showing monthly generation, load factors, and percentages of hours unavailable to generate due to planned and unplanned outages. In addition to this data, a slideshow highlights trends and dynamics in maintenance and unplanned outages and provides key information regarding refueling cycles going forward. NuclearWatch currently covers stations operating in France, Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands and is updated every time new data are available.

  • HydroWatch — Updated information of river inflows, reservoirs levels and hydro generation. Covering key rivers in Switzerland, France, and Germany, with long-term historical minimum and maximum averages. For the Rhine River inflows in Rheinfelden, PIRA displays hourly developments and 2-day forward forecasts. Reservoir contents are also reported for Austria, Switzerland, Spain, and Italy. A slideshow highlights important issues, such as river levels in key locations affecting nuclear operations or coal transportation.

  • Demand Slideshow — A detailed slideshow highlights longer-term load forecasts and key trends in electricity demand by sector (residential, commercial and industrial) and by country.

  • Load/Fuel Balance — Detailed monthly balances by fuel type for major European markets, with 12 – 18 months ahead forecasts.

  • Installed Capacity — Dates back to 1996, with PIRA's assumptions for 2006 and 2007. Displays data in a pivot table format by plant type and source, with indication of peak load and reserve capacity margin. Data can be analyzed by category or country.

  • Historic Generation Profiles by fuel and country.

  • Interconnection Capacities between countries.

  • Trade Flows and patterns between regions and countries.
