Bruno Brunetti (Senior Director, European Electricity)
joined PIRA Energy in 2001 and
manages PIRA's European Electricity
Service and he's a contributor to
the EU ETS and International Coal
analysis. Bruno’s deep understanding
of European energy economics and the
regulatory framework of the
liberalizing electricity and gas
markets comes from having worked
with the strategic consulting
division of Caminus Corp (Sungard).
There, he carried out a wide range
of market studies, providing advice
to a significant number of new
projects as well as working on
acquisition and divestment of assets
across Europe. Bruno began his
career in the strategic planning
department of Enel in Rome. Bruno
also drafted the study “Natural Gas
in Power Generation” for Cedigaz in
Paris and has authored a wide
variety of articles in Italian,
French, and English, including a
significant contribution on the
restructuring of the Italian
electricity market. Bruno graduated
magna cum laude in economics and
management from Bari University
(Italy) and obtained a Masters
degree in energy economics from the
ENSPM, the School of the French
Institute of Petroleum (Paris).
Jakub Duda (Director,
European Energy) joined
PIRA in 2008 to focus on the
development of econometric tools
to analyze and predict pricing
mechanisms, while also following
closely the developments in
Eastern European power markets.
Prior to PIRA, he worked in risk
and market analyst roles in the
leading European electricity
company CEZ, where he was
responsible for market analytics
and price modeling on the
trading floor. Jakub holds
doctorate degrees in Mathematics
both from Charles University,
Prague and University of
Missouri-Columbia. Jakub also
spent two years as a Feinberg
Postdoctoral Fellow at Weizmann
Institute of Science in Rehovot,
Israel, and he also worked as
Senior Assistant Professor at
the Faculty of Mathematics and
Physics of Charles University,
Prague.
Ira B. Joseph (Executive
Director, European Energy)
manages PIRA's European Natural
Gas service and develops new
Internet-based products for
energy markets. Ira joined PIRA
Energy in 1999 after holding
positions at Energy Intelligence
Group for over a decade, as
Senior Editor of Petroleum
Intelligence Weekly and
Editor-in-Chief of World Gas
Intelligence. He has
authored several books on crude
oil marketing and natural gas,
including versions of EIG’s
International Crude Oil Market
Handbook and World Gas
Handbook, as well as
several articles on natural gas
swaps and gas marketing
strategy. Ira holds an M.A. in
International Economics from
Johns Hopkins School of Advanced
International Studies and a B.A
from the University of Michigan.
Roman Kramarchuk (Managing Director,
Emissions and Clean Energy)
oversees PIRA’s Greenhouse Gas
Emissions Service. Before
joining PIRA in 2005, he was
with the EPA’s Clean Air Markets
Division, where he was
extensively involved in the
development of the CAIR and CAMR
(Mercury) Rules and the BART
Guidelines. His previous
experience includes work in the
merchant power sector and with
PA Consulting / PHB Hagler
Bailly, where he evaluated
strategies regarding power
sector fuel choice and advised
on power plant development and
acquisition, transmission
expansion and asset valuation
within various North American
markets. Additionally, Roman has
spent several years working on
USAID and World Bank-funded
projects. He has an MPP from the
Kennedy School of Government at
Harvard and a BA in economics
and BSE in system engineering
from the University of
Pennsylvania.
